Although the idea of a spider bite can be frightening, the creature’s venom could help scientists discover new painkillers, according to a recent study in the British Journal of Pharmacology.
The Australian study, published March 2, shows seven compounds in spider venom that could help prevent the body from passing pain signals to the brain. Just one of those compounds could create new options for painkillers, according to the study.
