A new Kaplan Test Prep survey of more than 2,200 recent nursing school graduates showed nursing school graduates may feel unprepared to safely care for patients with Ebola, according to a news release. Although 81% of the graduates surveyed say the duty of medical professionals sometimes requires placing themselves in danger in the interest of saving lives, 57% feel unprepared to safely care for patients stricken with Ebola. Also, 55% say they’d feel personally unsafe if they were required to treat patients with Ebola.
“Nurses are among the most giving of all professionals, which explains why Gallup consistently finds that Americans view them as the most honest and ethical members of our workforce,” Susan Sanders, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, vice president of nursing, Kaplan Test Prep, said in the release.
